The University of Illinois have announced the dismissal of their head football coach, Tim Beckman, according to a press release from the school's athletic website.
Preliminary results of an ongoing investigation into allegations against Beckman found efforts to persuade players to play through injuries and deter them from reporting their ailments, according to Illinois Athletic Director Mike Thomas.
Bill Cubit will take over as the interim head coach.
Cubit was the offensive coordinator for the Fighting Illini last season.
Illinois' first game of the season is September 4th against Kent State.
