Champaign Police Make Arrest in Bank Robbery Investigation

Formal charges are pending against a Champaign man police say robbed a bank.

On Wednesday, Champaign Police detectives, along with the United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force arrested 29-year-old Harvey Blakely in the 1100 block of W. Church Street in Champaign.

Police believe Blakely robbed the First Financial Bank on Prospect Avenue on June 5th.

Authorities say Blakely walked into the bank, gave the teller a note demanding money and fled the facility with an undetermined amount of cash.
