The Champaign County coroner's office confirms 7-year-old Joshua Schneider passed away Saturday morning at Carl Foundation Hospital. Schneider was hit by a vehicle near Lawson Park Thursday afternoon. We've learned new information regarding the seventeen-year-old driver. The Mattoon Police Department tells News Watch's Jesse Guinn they're investigating the minor for more than just illegal cell phone use. Police anticipate their case will be wrapped up in the next day or so and that report will be sent to the Coles County state's attorney for further review. Funeral arrangements for Schneider are pending at Schilling Funeral Home in Mattoon. News Watch has learned the young boy donated several of his organs to help others in need.
