The flu is showing up early this year in Illinois.
The State Department of Public Health says more people are being hit by the flu this season than they were this time a year ago.
The state says so far 115 people with influenza have been admitted to intensive care units in Illinois hospitals.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Illinois is one of fourteen states where the flu is already widespread.
