Coles County Jail Passes Inspection

Friday, 31 October 2014

The Coles County Jail passed a recent Department of Corrections inspection. Besides the hard work that goes on within the jail on a daily basis, Sheriff Darrell Cox says new technology has led to excellent reviews. Many other county jails in the viewing area including Douglas, Piatt, Shelby, and Effingham were also compliant with state regulations. While Edgar County wasn't entirely compliant due to low staff numbers and other issues, improvements were made to cell locks and plumbing. Coles County is preparing to potentially house inmates from Edgar County until more staff members become available.
