Pana Armed Robbery

Pana Police are requesting assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery Wednesday morning.

Authorities say Christian County 911 received a call reference an armed robbery which happened at the Shasteens Marathon Station on East Jackson Street in Pana.

When officers arrived on scene they discovered the female clerk down on the pavement in front of the business with injuries to the face. Police say the clerk was quickly escorted to a safe location away from the building until the business and perimeter were secured.

Authorities say the suspect entered the front entrance to the business displaying a dark colored handgun. They say the suspect confronted the clerk in the back office area and violently attacked the clerk, striking her in the face multiple times with the butt of the handgun.

The armed suspect returned to the cashier’s counter and forcibly removed the cashier box and the victim’s purse before quickly exiting the front door of the business.

A description of the suspect is as follows:

  • White male
  • Approximately 5’10” to 5’11”
  • Approximate weight 165-185 lbs
  • Wearing light colored blue jeans, dark colored boots, black long sleeve shirt, black stocking cap, dark colored bandana covering the face, and dark sunglasses
  • Subject was armed with a dark-colored semi-automatic handgun

The subject was last seen exiting the front door. A small amount of US currency was taken during the robbery.

The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigations Unit and the Christian County States Attorney’s Office are assisting Pana PD with the investigation.
