The state of Illinois wants to remind drivers that as of January 1, all hand-held cellphone use is illegal.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says you can use phones with speakerphones or headsets with
voice-activated or one-digit dialing.
Texting while driving in the state of Illinois was banned in 2010.
The department says if you're caught talking on a hand-held phone while driving, you can face fines up to
$75 and that amount increases $25after each stop.
The campaign's logan is "Drop It and Drive."
