Illibois Cellphone Ban

Wednesday, 12 February 2014

The state of Illinois wants to remind drivers that as of January 1, all hand-held cellphone use is illegal.

The Illinois Department of Transportation says you can use phones with  speakerphones or headsets with
voice-activated or one-digit dialing.

Texting while driving in the state of Illinois was banned in 2010.

The department says if you're caught talking on a hand-held phone while driving, you can face fines up to
$75  and that amount increases $25after each stop.

The campaign's logan is "Drop It and Drive."
