Officials were called to 902 East Harding Street Thursday night after reports of a male and female possibly fighting in an apartment.
After officials arrived on scene a man called out from the apartment claiming he was going to kill the female.
Officials entered the apartment where the suspect was found in the bathroom stabbing the female with a screwdriver.
Police say Ismail Ervin, 28, is charged with attempted murder.
They say the victim is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
