Hunting and Fishing License Cost for Seniors

Monday, 7 April 2014

A proposal that would allow seniors to buy fishing and hunting licenses at a lower cost  is moving ahead in the legislature.

The state house passed a measure Friday that would lower the cost of licenses for those seventy-five and older.

Those who qualify and choose to save a little bit of money must also enroll in the Benefits Access Program with the Illinois Department on Aging.

The proposal also eliminates the fee to recieve phesant, furbearer, and habitat or migratory fowl stamps for hunters. For fishermen, the fees for inland trout and salmon stamps are eliminated.

Supporters say the legislation ensures seniors can enjoy the state's outdoors.
