U of I Basketball Star Boswell Will Return To Program

Thursday, 3 April 2025

Illinois men's basketball star Kylan Boswell made the announcement across his social media platforms on Wednesday that he will return next season.

Boswell averaged a career-best 12.3 points per game with the Illini in the 2024-25 campaign, and recorded the seventh triple-double in school history last December after posting 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists against Chicago State.

His return comes at a time when very few of Boswell's teammates have done the same, as Morez Johnson Jr., Tre White, Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn, and Carey Booth have all entered the NCAA Transfer Portal in the past two weeks.

With star guards Kasparas Jakucionis and Will Riley both expected to enter the NBA Draft this summer, Illinois is slated to lose six of their key contributors from this past season.

The Illini finished 22-13 (12-8 in Big 10 play), and qualified for March Madness as a 6 seed before their season ended against 3-seeded Kentucky in the Round of 32 on March 23rd.
