A local facility is preparing for winter thanks to the cold snap we've seen this week.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has started the winterization process at Lake Shelbyville.
Officials say during the winter months docks are taken out to avoid damage from ice and freezing temperatures.
Other winterization work will be focused toward fish cleaning stations and restrooms.
Officials say this process is important to prevent damage to water lines above and below the ground.
