A Mattoon man found guilty of murdering another man will spend nearly forty years in jail.
On Tuesday, 25-year-old Joshua Mefford was sentenced for the murder of 58-year-old Robert Montague.
Mefford was arrested September 9th 2012 after police found Montague's body in a hotel room at the U.S. Grant motel on Lake Land Boulevard in Mattoon.
Autopsy results show Montague died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Mefford was sentenced to 36 years for murder and five years for robbery.
Authorities say Mefford assaulted Montague over money.
