UIUC President Continues His Stay

University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign's president will remain on campus for a few more years.

U of I's board of trustees has unanimously voted Thursday to extend Tim Killeen's contract for three years.

"I am incredibly proud of the progress we've made on behalf of our students, our faculty and the people of Illinois since 2015." Killeen said.

President Killeen's tenure has been maked by significant progress in many areas of the university, student enrollment, affordability, diversity, financial aid, research and economic development, university leaders said.

Killeen's salary of $916,770 will stay the same and he is eligible for any university merit-based salary program.

Killeen also touched upon the beneficial impacts of the system's global partnerships with universities and other institutions across the country.

"The sucess of everyone across the system, in building record enrollment, growing access, holding down student costs, driving innovative research and working with state leaders to propel our universitiies foward is deeply insirping." Killeen stated.

The extension to Killeen's presidency will be effective starting July 1.
