Illinois State University Announces Presidental Finalists.

We're closer to learning who will be Indiana State University's next president.

On Thursday, the university announced a list of finalists.

The candidates are Dr. Matt Cecil who's a special advisor to the president at Northern Kentucky University. Formerly, Dr. Cecil served as the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs from July 2021-January 2023, said school officials.

Dr. Clarenda Phillips, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Sociology at Texas A&M. Phillips has served in this role since March 2018 and was additonally the Interim Dean for the College of Science from September 2022-February 2023, said school officials.

Lastly, Dr. Mike Godard, Provost at Southeast Missouri State. He has been in his role since July 2019. Dr. Godard also serves as a tenured faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Recreation as a professor of exercise science, said school officials.

Dr. Godard was also a finalist for the last presidential search at Eastern Illinois University.

ISU's current president Dr. Debroah Curtis announced her retirement last fall. She started at the university in January 2018.

The presidential search committee said they named the three finalists from a field of 80 applicants.

"We were privileged to attract a strong and diverse candidate pool, We are excited to introduce these candidates to the Indiana State Unversity, Terre Haute, and Wabash Valley communities." said Board of Trustees Chair Bob Casey.

The search committe said the finalists will now visit the campus to meet with staff, students and faculty members.
