Local Football Programs Sign Recruits

Wednesday, 7 February 2018

National Signing Day has arrived in college football and for these teams it couldn't come soon enough.

Eastern Illinois was down to one quarterback in a game this past season, so what did they do? How about sign three more.

Jonathan Brantley highlights the group as the six-one quarterback comes in from Tulane University, and he brings a dual-threat option to the field.

The Panthers other biggest need comes on the defensive line, and they sealed that up by bringing in two junior college transfers and two high school recruits.

The University of Illinois already finished most of its recruiting in December with 18 signed, but this time around quarterback is also their point of emphasis.

Newly-signed coordinator Rod Smith hit the ground running with his connections on the west coast as Matt Smith from California was one of two quarterbacks to sign Wednesday.

Head Coach Lovie Smith said the program has one scholarship left to fill.
