The holidays and winter months can lead to blood shortages, and that's why the American Red Cross is in need of donations. Red Cross officials say there's an urgent need for blood platelet donors, and donors of all blood types. Officials say type O negative and B negative are critically needed right now. The Red Cross says winter weather events have caused nearly 200 blood drive cancellations this year. A blood drive is scheduled tomorrow at Eastern Illinois University's Martin Luther King Junior student union starting at one.
