Police discover six pounds of heroin during a traffic stop near Vandalia.
Police said an Illinois State Police trooper stopped 37-year-old Juan Contreras-Ibarra for speeding, and found heroin in the vehicle on Sunday.
They said the drugs are worth nearly one million dollars.
Officials said Ibarra is charged with possession of a controlled substance and trafficking.
He remains in the Fayette County Jail.
