A former Lake Land College president has passed away.
Charleston native Robert Luther served as Lake Land's president for 18 years, from 1988 to 2006.
After his presidency, Luther was elected to the Lake Land Board of Trustees in 20-11 where he served a full six year term.
Luther was then re-elected in 2017, but had to step down due to health complications.
Lake Land officials say Luther will be remembered for his financial prowess, love of collegiate athletics, but most importantly, his love for the students he worked for.
His death is of natural causes.
