Charleston Trojans on the Field

Tuesday, 18 April 2017

The Charleston High School baseball and softball teams returned to action today, but not in front of their home fans.

The baseball team couldn't extend its winning streak to five games, as Teutopolis High School handed them an 8-2 loss.

The defeat not only ends their winning stretch, but it also marks just the second time this season the team hasn't scored at least three runs.

On the other hand, the softball team had no problem scoring in a late-inning victory.

Monticello High School took the Trojans to extra innings, but CHS still came out on top 6-5 for their ninth straight win.

After a home victory, the Mattoon High School baseball team is back in road game action.

The Green Wave are taking on Newton looking for their ninth win of the season.

Coach Mark Jackley says Jacob Spitz pitched a complete game with six strikeouts, while Peyton Morrow went three for three with two doubles and two R-B-I's.
