A proposed law to require seat belts on school buses is one step closer to becoming a reality.
The bill is moving onto the state house of representatives after passing the House Transportation Vehicles and Safety
Committee yesterday.
Secretary of State Jesse White says he supports the measure, and a three point seat belt system would diffuse the forceful
and sudden body movements sustained during a crash.
Some schools such as Mattoon say they already have seat belts installed on their buses.
