The Coles County Sheriff's Office says a man has been arrested in a 1980 cold case.
Authorities say Thomas Small was arrested in the murder of his wife.
Officials say Diane Small's body was found near the Air Tight Bridge in rural Coles County.
Former Coles County Sheriff Darrel Cox first opened the case and he says the arrest will finally bring him some closure.
Officials say charges are pending against Thomas Small in both Kankakee and Coles counties.
