The Champaign city manager has signed a separation agreement that immediately and indefinitely severs a former police officer's employment with the city.
The city has been involved in three public disciplinary cases related to Matt Rush.
Champaign City Manager Dorothy David says the contract includes a one-time payment to Rush of $50,000 in exchange to him withdrawing his complaint of termination for off-duty misconduct.
The city says the agreement was a way to minimize further legal expenses and obtain a positive outcome for the city.
