The laws are changing when it comes to a person caught with a small amount of marijuana.

The state of Illinois has eliminated jail time for the possession of marijuana and more communities in Illinois are adopting their own penalties.

Marshall is among the latest cities to pass its own measure.

People caught with 10 grams or less of the drug will be fined $100 to $200.
While in Urbana, a person will face a $50 ticket.

Those fined could also face penalties that include community service.
