U of I Men's Basketball Signs Five-Star Recruit

Friday, 18 November 2016

The Fighting Illini basketball team just got a little bigger under center.

University of Illinois head coach John Groce announced early Thursday,  the signing of five-star center Jeremiah Tilmon to a national letter of intent.

Tilmon is a consensus national top-25 recruit and is the first five-star player to select the Fighting Illini in the last seven recruiting classes.

With the addition of Tilmon to last week's signees Trent Frazier, Javon Pickett and Da'Monte Williams, Illinois has landed a national top-10 class according to three major recruiting services.

Tilman is an East St. Louis, Illinois Native averaging 13 points and 8 rebounds a gam3e through his junior year.

Groce says Tilman has been a top priority for the Illini program for years.

The freshman class will arrive at Illinois in due time, but the fighting Illini has to get through this year with the veterans.

Next up for Illinois a night at home in Champaign, Illinois against Dtroit Mercey.

Tonight at seven.
