Illinois Rt. 16 will get a makeover starting next week!
District 7 Construction Engineer, Bob Utz, says from Mattoon to Charleston, road improvements will take place on the heavily traveled highway.
Utz says one lane will be open at all times, but drivers should be extra cautious when passing through construction.
He says Beniach Construction should finish the improvements within a month.
The project will cost more than $500,000.
