I-70 Effingham Project

Wednesday, 6 May 2015

Traffic around Effingham might flow a little differently this weekend.

Illinois Department of Transportation Construction Engineer Bob Utz says, weather permitting, two ramps will close Friday night and re-open early Monday morning.

The Southbound I-57 and Westbound I-70 ramps will be closed while workers build temporary tie-ins to move traffic onto new pavement.

Officials say a marked detour sign will help direct traffic around the work zone.

Utz says this is part four of a project that began in 2010 the full project should be done by the end of 2016.
