A local city looks at it's economic future. Effingham city officials say they have a new plan with big potential for the community and surrounding area. An eligibility study for a new business district has been approved by the city of Effingham. Officials say this potential zone would be a big boost for the city's economy. Today I spoke with Effingham Economic director Todd Hull, he says he's excited about the city's economic growth. The city council has given approval for the study. Hull says he looks for a public hearing to be held within the next few months, at which the council would vote to file for state approval. Hull says if everything goes well the area would officially become a business district next January.
