The Illinois State Police and more than one hundred local police departments will be patrolling the roads this Sunday.
Authorities say over the past five years 18 people were killed in traffic accidents on Super Bowl Sunday.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says the crashes were caused by a drunk driver.
The department is urging all football fans to have a designated driver if they plan to drink alcohol.
