Illinois Deer Harvest Numbers Up

Thursday, 11 December 2014

Many Illinois deer hunters took to the stands for this year's firearm season.

And the Illinois Department of Natural Resources says this years deer harvest numbers are up.

They say over 76,000 deer were brought in during this year's 7-day season.

That number is up 3% from last year.

State officials say 58 Illinois counties saw an increase this year.

Locally, 451 deer were harvested in Coles County.

If you have yet to bring in the venison this season, several hunting opportunities still remain.

The Illinois muzzleloader season begins Friday and runs through Sunday.
