A Champaign military veteran has been sentenced to ten years in prison for shooting his wife.
Experts say 35-year-old Mikal Washington suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder when he shot his now ex-wife several times in their car in December 2012.
Washington was sentenced after pleading guilty but mentally ill to aggravated battery with a firearm.
Prosecutors dismissed a count of attempted first-degree murder in the plea.
