The state of Illinois will put 10-million dollars toward constructing a new beltway near Decatur.
The 22-mile highway will connect interstate 72 east of Decatur to U.S. 51 near Elwin.
An interchange will also be constructed near U.S. 36 and Decatur Airport.
Officials say the bypass will improve access to the airport, and reduce heavy traffic on city streets.
A date for construction hasn't been set.
