Charleston High School runner Riley McInerney signed a national letter of intent to compete on the Eastern Illinois University men's cross country and track team starting fall 2013.
At CHS, McInerney qualified for the IHSA Class AA State in Cross Country four times.
He was 2nd at the Midwest Senior meet in Ohio.
EIU head cross country coach Erin Howarth says, "He is obviously a very talented runner and someone who has gotten better with each passing season."
McInerney is the son of former EIU cross country coach and All-American runner John McInerney.
