A school bus driver from Greenup has been sentenced to a total of 27 years in prison on child pornography charges.

The Illinois attorney general's office charged 54-year-old Karl Kimble with six total counts related to the possession and dissemination of child pornography last May.

“Holding child predators who exploit children accountable can help survivors heal from the terrible trauma they have experienced,” Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul said in May after his office initially charged Kimble.

Kimble was arrested after investigators say they found evidence of child sexual abuse material in his home in Greenup.

The Greenup Police Department assisted the investigators with the arrest.

“My office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force will continue to partner with local law enforcement agencies to locate and bring to justice individuals who exploit minors,” Raoul said.

According to investigators, Kimble worked as a school bus driver for the Illinois Central School Bus Company and drove a route for the Charleston school district.

Kimble pleaded guilty to three out of the six counts against him last week, according to court records, and he's been sentenced to a total of 27 years in prison followed by a mandatory supervised release of 3 years to life.
