Jasper Co. Board Meets Over Record Deletion

The Jasper County Board is holding a special meeting Tuesday night over deletion of public records by the County Clerk.

The Jasper County Clerk deleted video of their January 15th board meeting, the Jasper County Board announced in a statement.

The county website lists the clerk as Amy Tarr.

Tarr confirmed this deletion was intentional and unauthorized, and it doesn't fit lawful records management procedures, the board says.

Tarr says she deleted the video because she considered a statement she made during the meeting personally embarrassing, according to the board.

The Board says they are taking appropriate steps to address this, including ensuring the Clerk understands state records retention laws and implementing additional safeguards to prevent unauthorized deletion of public records.
