A Charleston man has pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated DUI in connection with a crash that killed two people last year.
That crash ended the lives of Rachel and James Sutton of Humboldt on Memorial Day 2022.
A vehicle driven by Douglas Wilson Junior, 20, failed to stop at a stop sign north of Mattoon and hit a vehicle driven by Rachel Sutton, the Coles County Sheriff's Office said.
Both vehicles went into a field near the intersection. Sutton's vehicle flipped over and caught fire, according to authorities.
Court records show Wilson was originally charged with three counts of aggravated driving under the influence, however two of those charges were dropped.
He'll be sentenced November 17th and faces between 6 and 28 years in prison, according to court records.
