The Illinois State Police launch a new way for the public to report crashes.
The civilian crash reporting system (CCRS) allows people to create a crash report online without waiting for a trooper to respond, said ISP officials.
To use the online system, ISP officials said the crash must be a single vehicle, property-damage-only crash that didn't involve injuries and happened on an interstate or U.S/Illinois route.
To file a report, visit: https://isp.illinois.gov/CrashReports.
Once the report is successfully submitted, the individual will be given a unique “receipt number” and given the opportunity to print their completed crash report, which they can provide to their insurance company, said officials.
Individuals will still be required to pay $5.00 to obtain the final approved crash report, which can be done online at https://isp.illinois.gov/CrashReports/EPay.
