Authorities say a man who was fatally shot by western Indiana police officers has been identified as 34-year-old Christopher W. Fortin of Terre Haute.
Fortin was shot Tuesday after he pointed a gun at officers following a standoff in Terre Haute.
City officers were sent to a landscaping business’ storage building where an armed man was inside making threats and pointing a gun at workers.
After a two-hour standoff, police said Fortin unexpectedly left the building and pointed his gun at officers, prompting two officers to fire at Fortin.
He died at a hospital.
The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.
