The 2013 spring season is underway as the Eastern Illinois men's and women's tennis teams will begin their schedule this weekend.
On Friday, the EIU women matchup against Evansville in Terre Haute, IN.
The women will look to build on their 9-10 (5-4 Ohio Valley Conference) record, a mark that included an appearance in the end-of-season league championship.
All-OVC recipients, Merritt Whitley and Janelle Prisner, return to lead the 2013 campaign for the women.
The men will hit the road to face Ball State for their season opener on Saturday, going up against a Cardinal team that is 0-2 on the young season.
Last season, the Panther men finished with a 4-13 record (2-6 OVC).
The women's match against the Purple Aces is the opening match for both teams.
They will face-off in the Wabash Valley Tennis Center at 4 p.m. CST.
The men's match will take place in the Muncie YMCA at 2 p.m CST.
