Authorities say a man about to be sent to prison for aggravated battery has escaped from the Macon County Jail in Decatur.
The Macon County sheriff says 25-year-old Schuyler McCoy escaped earlier today and police have started a search.
Macon County Sheriff Tom Schneider says McCoy escaped around 1:30 after identifying himself to correctional officers as a different inmate who was in the process of being released on bond.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 911.
McCoy is described as a white male, 150 pounds with brown hair.
He was wearing a white T-shirt and black pants.
