Piatt Co. Archery Accident

Friday, 25 October 2013

Authorities say preventable mistakes are to blame in an archery accident that has left a central Illinois teenager hospitalized.

The Piatt County Sheriff's Department says Maci Webb of Cerro Gordo was shot in the head with an arrow on October 10th.

She remains in critical condition in an Urbana hospital.

The sheriff's department says Webb was sitting downrange from the archer when he fired.

The investigation also found that the archer was fatigued.

He was a beginner and had fired the new compound bow about twice as many times as an inexperienced shooter should.

Though no foul play is suspected Piatt County State's Attorney Dana Rhoades will review the case for possible charges.
