The legal team for an Edgar County teen convicted of murdering his mother fails to get a reduced sentence for their client.
18-year-old Terry Payton of Paris is currently serving an 8-year sentence for second-degree murder in the June 2011 death of his mother Kathie Payton.
Payton's lawyers filed a motion earlier this month to reduce his sentence, which the judge denied.
Payton was appointed a new lawyer, an appellate defender, to handle any motions and appeals from here on out.
