A man is recovering in the hospital after police say he tried to break into a restaurant.
Mattoon police say 23-year-old Maverick Bowman tried to repel off the roof of Little Mexico restaurant Thursday night, but fell two stories onto the pavement.
Authorities received a call about a severely injured man on the roadway, and that's when they spotted Bowman with a backpack containing burglary tools, and a rope on the retaurant's roof.
Police say Bowman was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana where he's expected to stay for several days.
