EIU Football Up and Beyond in 2012

After ending its 2012 season, the Eastern Illinois University football team recieved awards for putting sweat and faith in the 2012 season.

Monday afternoon, the final FCS coaches poll was released and revealed that Eastern Illinois University Football was ranked 25th. EIU was the first team listed as well as the first to recieve votes in the Sports Network poll to finish the season at number 26. In the Sports Network poll, Patriot League champion Colgate was 25th, followed by Eastern Illinois.

Erik Lora, who led the Panthers offense, set the FCS single season record for receptions. Lora placed fourth in the Payton Award voting, while Jimmy Garoppolo placed 10th.

However, that's not it for the Panthers. Dino Babers, their first-year head coach, was named the Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year and was the AFCA Region Coach of the Year. The Panthers will return to the gridiron for the 2013 season, beginning Aug. 31 at San Diego State. Follow the links provided below to see both end-of-season polls.
