The Macon County State's Attorney Office is alerting the public of a phone scam that's targeting the elderly.
The office said the callers claim to be a grandchild who's been unfairly arrested in a distant area, and proceeds to beg for bond money.
If victims question the scammer's voice, they usually claim they've suffered injuries in an accident or have a cold.
They say if you receive a similar call, hang up because it's a scam and report it to the Elder Fraud Hotline.
