Mattoon City Council Delay's Vote on New Police Radios

Wednesday, 6 December 2017

The Mattoon Police Department may have to wait a little longer to update their outdated radio system.

The city council was scheduled to vote on purchasing new radios for the department Tuesday night, but that vote wasn't taken.

City Administrator Kyle Gill said the item was pulled from the agenda for budgetary reasons.

He said the city was prepared to spend 150,000 dollars for a down payment, but Motorolla increased the price this week.

Gill said the city plans to talk to another company soon.
