Construction on a new Meijer store in Effingham is delayed a couple of years.
Effingham City Engineer Jeremy Heuerman said an issue over wetlands is pushing the project start date back to 2020.
Heuerman said Effingham officials are trying to reach an agreement with Meijer to make an acre of city owned properties into wetlands to be compliant with the U.S. Army Corp (CORE) of Engineers.
Heuerman said it's likely road construction on the project will start in 2019, with the store opening in 2021.
