Carle Ebola Treatment Center

Thursday, 9 November 2017

Carle Foundation Hospital opens a unique center to handle highly infectious and potentially deadly diseases. The project took two and a half years to complete, and cost about a million dollars. It was funded by Carle Foundation Hospital and a federal grant. Senior Infection Preventionist Taffy Creviston says Carle stepped up to the plate when the Center for Disease Control and the Illinois Department of Public Health asked hospitals to prepare themselves for highly infectious diseases. The new treatment center offers patient-to-visitor communication through windows because of how contagious Ebola is. Carle also offers patients tablets so they can video chat their loved ones without spreading any germs.
