Safety ratings improve for a Coles County fire protection district. Lincoln Fire Protection District chief Pat Goodwin says the departments public protection classification has improved from a seven to a six on a scale of one to ten, ten being the worst rating. Goodwin says the district is evaluated on dispatching, water supplies, firefighting equipment and training. He says the rating could eventually mean savings for residents on their homeowner's insurance.
