A child care center on Lake Land's campus is no longer profitable and has to close.
By May, the Cornerstone Christian Academy at Lake Land College will close its doors for good.
Co-director of the child care center Teresa Lang says low enrollment and a declining budget are reasons for the closure.
She says children and staff from the Mattoon facility are welcome to come to the Charleston center if space allows.
Lake Land College's early childhood and education programs will NOT be impacted by the academy's closing.
Officials say Lake Land partners with several area child care facilities to provide practicum experiences for its students, and the college will continue to work with these partners.
