An Effingham department store is on the list of a national chain's closures.
The JCPenney store in the Village Square Mall is one of seven Illinois locations that will close as part of the company's plan to optimize its national retail operations.
JCPenney says the measure is part of the company's successful return to profitability.
The company plans to close a hundred and 38 stores across the country and one supply chain in Florida.
They say most affected stores will start the liquidation process April 17th.
